Why we do
We believe that every citizen is capable of independently engaging with the law to better their lives. However, the legal system as it exists today presents certain obstacles to this:
1.
Legal education is restricted to university students who opt to study law full-time
2.
Access to justice is hindered because of the lack of legal awareness and access to aid
3.
Accessing legal aid is a time consuming and complex process for low-income communities.
Our mission is to combat these issues and provide citizens with the knowledge, tools, and assistance required to understand and access law and justice.
What we do
We are currently creating a platform of paralegals providing services to low-income and vulnerable communities who cannot afford legal aid, in order to enable them to independently access law and justice. We also liaison with colleges across Karnataka to identify and train Campus Ambassadors who can advocate for the cause of legal awareness and skill building in their communities.
We facilitate up-skilling and awareness workshops for government school students, Anganwadi workers, daily wage labourers, etc. Our focus is on building skills such as filing RTI applications, filing PILs, getting a complaint filed with the police, etc.
